NEWS EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION AWARD Rivers Academy received the 2004 Excellence in Education award from Educate New Mexico. The award was presented at the 2004 Independent School Symposium, April 15 and 16, in Gallup, New Mexico. Over 13 organizations were represented at the first symposium of the New Mexico Independent Schools Coalition. The symposium was organized by Educate New Mexico, funded by the Tijeres Foundation, and hosted by Rehoboth Christian School in Rehoboth, New Mexico.
Rivers Academy started the school year at a new location. We are now in the building belonging to Jose Frietze which formerly housed FYI at 1501 North Solano at the corner of Solano and Juniper.
GRANT AWARDS Daniels Fund has granted $30,000.00 to Rivers Academy in continued support for the DeLta System of Dynamic Literacy. Created and developed by Dr. Stephen Farmer of NMSU, and implemented at Rivers Academy, the DeLta System forms the foundation of the Rivers Academy curriculum. Daniels Fund was created by Bill Daniels, a philanthropist, who believed all people deserve a second chance. He especially desired to help students succeed that did not thrive in traditional systems of education. Due to the support of Daniels Fund, Rivers Academy is able to share Bill Daniels’ mission, which so closely aligns with the mission of Rivers Academy.
